Look at all these acronyms! Confused?
What do they truly mean?

They refelect the most popular acronyms that you may see in Wisconsin.

ASHI (the American Society of Home Inspectors) is the oldest and most recognized professional Home Inspector Association in the country. It is a very credible association. It is a national association with different levels of membership based on experience and testing. Logos used by members should reflect their current membership level with "Member" being the highest.

NAHI (the National Association of Home Inspectors) is the second oldest professional home inspector association in the country. It is a very credible association. It is a national association with different levels of membership based on experience and testing. Logos used by members should reflect their current membership level with "CRI" (certified real estate inspector) being the highest.

When inspectors say they are certified, licensed or registered by the sate of Wisconsin. I would sure hope they are because it's the law! To become registered you have to take a competency test administrated by NHIE (The National Home Inspectors Examination) which is a credible and fair exam though you can pass and still have no or little experience performing home inspections. Always ask how long or how many home inspections your inspector has performed.

AHIT (American Home Inspection Training Institute) is a national home inspection school. This Acronym shows that the home inspector has successfully completed their 6 day home inspector school. Most inspectors that show this logo alone are new inspectors.

NACHI

NACHI (the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors)  or interNACHI (the Inter-National Association of Certified Home Inspectors) is a newer national association with many members. Most members appear to be newer inspectors. There are different membership levels though in general the qualifications to become a member are minimal.

WAHI (The Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors) is a state professional home inspector association. It is a very credible  association and is the dominating force of home inspection in Wisconsin. Unfortunately this is not a credential. In general anyone can become a member and there are no membership levels. Most home inspectors in Wisconsin are a WAHI.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

Other logos not seen here may look important but may have been fabricated by the inspection company and may mean nothing or may only be a logo of a product they use - so be careful and ask questions!
